FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

RESPONSIBILITY OF TREASURER, Charles Elliott

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION: To enhance the structure of the Chamber of Commerce and to assist staff in the area of finance and administration. Prepares budget/recommends and monitors fund raising activities.

MEMBERSHIP & SERVICES: In conjunction with the Membership Coordinator, seek new members, retain existing members. To provide added benefits to Chamber members.

SMALL BUSINESS WEEK: To organize the annual Small Business Week events that are of interest to the local business community and creating awareness of the importance of business to the general public. Small Business Week is held annually in October.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

RESPONSIBILITY OF 1ST VICE PRESIDENT, Derek Shogren

ECONOMIC GROWTH: Helps to maintain liaison with the City of North Bay Council, Administration, Economic Development Department, Planning & Development and other community partners to explore and promote ongoing economic development in North Bay and area. Study economic issues and make recommendations to the Board of Directors for any required action.

STRATEGIC PLANNING: Promote the attraction and retention of business. Visioning for the chamber, Dionne Quints Museum and facilities. Better communications with the membership.

EXTRA MILE: Customer Service Excellence program. Designed to recognize the people who best demonstrate the concept of "going the extra mile" during his/her job.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE 2ND VICE PRESIDENT, Irene Smit

PUBLIC & GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS: To act on important matters of local, provincial or federal nature that will affect our membership. Review legislation/policy and make recommendations to the Board. Organize information seminars, hearings and associated forums on matters of government policy, legislation and similar entities for the benefit of the membership.

TOURISM PROMOTION & ENVIRONMENT: Recommend policies and activities to the Board of Directors which serve to improve the facilities and increase traffic for the tourist industry in North Bay and area. Liaise with the Almaguin-Nipissing Travel Association, Ministry of Tourism and the city of North Bay Tourism Department. Study local environment issues and recommend action to the Board.

SPECIAL EVENTS

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE 3RD VICE PRESIDENT, Susan Ray

PROGRAM & SPECIAL EVENTS: Organize and participate/staff events such as the Annual Golf Tournament, Monthly Business After Hours, Business After Hours Mini-Trade Show, and Annual Meeting Dinner & Dance.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR YOUNG PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR, Tanya Bedard

Young Professionals is a new membership category for those new enterpreneurs and/or employees that wish to become more involved in Chamber activities.  Events geared to young professionals, seminars, dinner club and participation in all other Chamber events are open to our Young Professionals.
